Event description

Description

In this 4-hour experiential workshop, we will spend the first half of our time together "cutting through the fluff" around self-care. We will authentically discuss how our cultural 'stories' and values often serve to disempower us when what we really need is to take care of ourselves. Additionally, we will turn inwards and connect to the wisdom of our own bodies. We will learn how to deeply listen to the cues offered by our nervous systems as a means of identifying "the warble" - the last stop before we move out of our healthy functional range. The second half of this workshop will be entirely interactive as we rotate through various self-care activities and put the skills into practice that we learned in the first half of the workshop.

Objectives:

1: Participants will be able to identify internalized cultural influences that disempower them
related to self-care.
2: Participants will be able to use body-based techniques from Dr. Peter Levine’s Somatic
Experiencing, allowing them to recognize when their bodies are giving cues and asking for self-care.
3: Participants will experience various self-care activities as a means to apply the skills
learned in this workshop.

Audience:

Any staff of Region IV CSBs and Region IV community partners

***Please note: Workshops will begin promptly at scheduled time, please arrive early to sign in and get settled.
