Please join Montgomery Countryside Alliance on Sunday, October 13, 2019, for the 12th annual Ride for the Reserve Bike Tour featuring family farms and orchards to benefit the Reserve and our quest to protect this special place.

Rider Registration Opens: 7:30 a.m.

Bike Start: Show and Go from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Lunch: Served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kingsbury's Orchard!

You’ll enjoy quiet roads, rural landscapes with views of Sugarloaf Mountain, and the Farm Tour’s signature gourmet picnic.

Riders will choose between four routes ranging from 10 miles to 62 miles (a metric century!) All routes include quiet, rolling landscapes dotted with the Reserve’s orchards, red barns, and silos - and a gourmet picnic lunch at Kingsbury's Orchard!

Many of the routes include views of Sugarloaf Mountain and stops at local farm businesses. Be sure to bring cash or credit cards to purchase produce and other goodies at the farm stops. Volunteers will cart your on-farm purchases back to your car, where they'll be waiting for you after your ride!

Routes will be made available to riders by September 1, 2019!

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

There is no minimum age requirement, but we do require all riders under 18 be accommodated by a parent/guardian... and they must have a signed "under 18" waiver. Check out our junior rider pricing (under 18 years on ride day, October 13, 2019). We recommend our shortest routes for young riders.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

If you live locally, you are more than welcome to ride to rider registration at Barnesville School. If you're driving, parking will be available at Barnesville School! (The address is 21830 Peach Tree Road, Barnesville, MD 20838)

What can/should I bring to the ride?

A bike in good working order, a water bottle, cash or credit cards for farm purchases, and sunscreen. HELMETS ARE MANDATORY! We will print off cue sheets reflecting any last-minute changes, but you are also welcome to print them from home. NO PETS OR WEAPONS, please.

What's the refund policy?

There are no refunds and no rain date. If the weather is unsafe for running the ride, the decision will be made the morning of the ride and we will still hold the picnic. If you can't use your registration, you can transfer it to someone else. Downgrades in mileage will also not be refunded (ex: You bought a ticket for the 18+ mile routes but now can only do 10)

Can my non-riding friends and family attend?
Yes! But we are going to put them to work. This ride for a cause only works with lots of volunteer support. There are jobs for all types of folks and it is a super fun way to rack up SSL hours. Contact Kristina@mocoalliance.org to get involved.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes, but whomever you will be transferred to needs to get in touch with us, fill out a waiver and pay the difference for any mileage changes (a downgrade in mileage will not be refunded). NO WAIVER, NO RIDE!

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Nope. We are trying to reforest more than 100 acres in the Reserve so let's save some paper... just arrive and check in with our friendly volunteers.

Can I update my registration information?

Sure! Get in touch by emailing kristina@mocoalliance.org.

Is it OK if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Nope. For everyone's safety, we really need a waiver from each and every rider... but swapping riders is easy! Please see above for how to transfer your registration.

I have a question that's not on this FAQ list. What do I do?

Riders: Send an email to kristina@mocoalliance.org and we'll get you squared away!

Potential Sponsors: Please contact Lili Leonard by emailing liliwleonard@gmail.com.

Thanks to Kingsbury Orchard for hosting the Picnic and Barnesville School for hosting our starting and parking area!
