The management of trade enabling lands by Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (Port of Vancouver)

Join us for a special seminar and learn more about both the tax considerations of the Port’s PILT Act and how the Port seeks to increase trade enabling activity through the acquisition and commercial leasing of land. You will walk away with a greater understanding of the tax and property management activities related to the Port’s Mandate.

Session 1: Property tax considerations including an overview of the Port’s Property Tax Act, important legal decisions related to property taxes on tenanted port properties and the application of the PILT Act. Presented by Nathan Nottingham, Manager, Real Estate, Port of Vancouver.

Session 2: Acquisition and development leasing for logistics warehousing. Presented by Marc Ballard, Commercial Leasing, Real Estate, Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.

Nathan Nottingham, BA, RI, AACI P.App
Manager, Real Estate

Nathan Nottingham is the Manager, of Real Estate at the Port of Vancouver, where he is responsible for managing the Port’s payments in lieu of taxes program, negotiating and administering Port Leases, establishing rental values and undertaking strategic acquisitions. -He has been with the Port Authority for 8 years. Prior to joining the Port he worked for BC Assessment as part of the South Fraser IC&I team.

Nathan is a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from UBC, and holds an AACI and RI designation.

Marc Ballard BSc (Hons) MRICS
Commercial Leasing, Real Estate

Marc Ballard advises on acquisition and commercial leasing at the Port of Vancouver. His work includes identification of acquisition opportunities, site analysis and purchase negotiation together with securing tenants for Port owned logistics development sites. Marc is also responsible for managing significant logistics tenant relationships across the Lower Mainland.

A UK migrant, he previously owned a successful industrial brokerage, appraisal and asset management business having formally worked in municipal government and at British Waterways, the organization responsible for real estate development adjoining the UK’s inland waterway network.

A Bachelor of Science in Real Estate Management from his hometown Nottingham Trent University, he is a Chartered Surveyor and RICS Registered Valuer with wide ranging post qualification experience across public and private sector industrial real estate

When you arrive at Canada Place:

The Discovery Centre is at the end of the corridor inside Canada Place and right by FlyOver Canada. There will be a guest registration table just inside the sliding glass doors of the Discovery Centre at the north end of the concourse in Canada Place (walk inside to the far end of the long hallway on the west side of the building).

Parking at Canada Place:

• Entry to the Canada Place VINCI parkade is at the very north end of Howe Street in downtown Vancouver

• Tickets are obtained from the ticket dispenser or the ticket booth

• There are two parking levels. Park at the far north end of the parking lot

• Take the elevators to level G (ground level).
