Rico was born in Tokushima, Japan. She graduated from Kobe Shoin University and then studied Vocal Jazz at a music school in Osaka. Before moving to the U.S., Ricoperformed live in many jazz clubs, hotels and other events.
In 2000, she worked with Julie Kelley, a famous L.A. singer, perfecting her voice and pronunciation. Workshops and music sessions helped Rico improve her voice even more. 2002 was a very busy year for Rico. She performed live at the famous Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles. She also moved to New York where she studied under Nancy Marano, a famous jazz singer and pianist. Her N.Y. debut was at Danny's Skylight Room in Manhattan.
Rico also works as an instructor of jazz singing and English pronunciation.
In 2011, she moved to Europe where she had many experiences that built up her career, skills and resume as a jazz singer.
In 2015, she returned to New York. Now she is continuing to perform at various jazz clubs in Manhattan as well as joining some workshops and jazz jam sessions. Always improving her singing and musical skills,
