Our Speakers
Rebecca Keeling Gagnon• AR Workshop Richmond. Making has always been a part of my life! From crafting to photography to woodworking, there is something so satisfying and cathartic about being creative. Join us to hear more, I'll share a little about my journey and AR Workshop Richmond, where you can be creative too!
Bird Cox has managed the Bizarre Market, a combo of one-day vendor markets and an extended holiday pop-up shop full of locally handmade goodness, since 2004. She's also the director of Richmond Young Writers, a columnist for Richmond Magazine, and a mother who routinely loses at chess to her 8-year-old.
Hermie Jackson is a 24 year-old, Dominican-Cuban, nonbinary butch (they/he) full-time ceramicist of 4 years at Workworks Ceramics. They took their first ceramics class in 2018 at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond with Maria Stone, and immediately fell in love with the medium. His work primarily focuses on functional forms, incorporating themes of unapologetic queer expression, connection to the natural world, and uninhibited silliness. They utilize a variety of surface decoration techniques with their work, but heavily focus on sgraffito and mishima.
Michael Mastroberti • South Creek Studios. Michael is a potter and woodworker here in Richmond, focusing on handmade production pots for the home. In addition to those pots, he makes wooden kitchen items and custom furniture to make every space feel special.
Our goals for the Richmond Curious series:
- Promote the downtown area and businesses like yours that flourish in a thriving city.
- Bring people in the city together in a curated, engaging and structured networking experience. Let’s get in a room and create connections!
- Gather is a community hub - we want to invite outside businesses into our space and create intentional connections between our member business owners and our amazing downtown community.
If this sounds like a fit, we invite you to join us at the next Richmond Curious! Doors will open at 7:45 am and we'll begin promptly at 8:05 am. If you join us, feel free to stick around for a free day of coworking.
