Richard Tognetti and the ACO Live in Niseko
Richard Tognetti is a world renowned violinist and the artistic director of the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) which he has led for over 25 years. Together with his wife Satu Vanska and friends from the ACO, they will be playing two special concerts in Niseko this January.
As Matthew Westwood in The Australian wrote last year, “A quarter-century ago no one could have predicted what the ACO would become under Tognetti’s leadership, yet a confluence of events, people and ideas about music created a powerful momentum. One of the first things he did was get the violin and viola players to play standing up, a defining feature of the ACO’s concerts. Behind the new look were musical changes that Tognetti hastened along. Adaptability to different periods of music – from baroque to contemporary classical and rock – is one of the ACO’s hallmarks. But it also began to evolve a distinctive style that drew on the rhythmic geometry of early music, while also incorporating the romantic style that Tognetti absorbed from the past century’s masters….. To hear a great violinist in the concert hall is one thing; to have him stand next to you, playing Bach, sends shivers up the spine.”
On Wednesday the 18th of January at Tanta-An, attendees will be treated to a show starting from 5:00pm.
