Event description
Beloved singer-songwriter Richard Marx offers an enlightening, entertaining look at his life in career in STORIES TO TELL.

About this event

Anderson's Bookshop of Naperville and Downer's Grove, Left Bank Books of St. Louis, and Boswell Book Company of Milwaukee present an evening with Richard Marx, discussing his new memoir, STORIES TO TELL. For this event , Marx will be in conversation with Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses.

Chicago-born Richard Marx is one of the most accomplished singer-songwriters in the history of popular music. He has sold 30 million albums worldwide, and is the only male artist whose first seven singles reached the top 5 on Billboard's Hot 100. He won a 2004 Song of the Year Grammy and has written a #1 single in each of the past four decades, an accolade previously only reached by Michael Jackson.

In Stories to Tell, Marx looks back on his life and career. You might know his hits, from "Don't Mean Nothing" to "Should've Known Better" to "Right Here Waiting," his biggest hit. But do you know the stories behind how the songs got written? Did you know that it's Richard Marx singing "All night" in response to Lionel Richie's "All Night Long" on that #1 hit? Now you do. There are so many great stories in this book, and we can't wait for him to tell them in this virtual event.

Richard Marx has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide over the course of his career. He won a 2004 Song of the Year Grammy and has scored fourteen number-one singles, both as a performer and as a songwriter/producer. He is also a committed philanthropist, supporting charitable causes such as the American Cancer Society and the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Mercy For Animals, ASPCA, Humane Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the charity closest to his heart, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Duff McKagan is one of the most recognized bassists in rock music history, best known as a founding member of the Guns N' Roses. McKagan has also been a columnist for Seattle Weekly, ESPN, and Playboy.com. He is also the author of It's So Easy: And Other Lies and How to Be a Man.

Tickets start at $24.30 and include a copy of Stories to Tell. Sales tax and ticket fee are extra. You can choose to pick up your book at Boswell, or for an extra fee, ship the book via USPS media mail (recommended for local delivery) or USPS priority (recommended for out of state delivery).
