Description

A group of Nashville’s leading songwriters will gather on the campus of Virginia Highlands Community College this Memorial Day Weekend to perform their original works and celebrate the region’s up-and-coming songwriting talents.

Grammy Award Winner Richard Leigh will headline the festival and will be joined by Tony Arata, Dennis Morgan and Tim Nichols for an evening performance on Saturday, May 26, at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center. Each is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. While performing their songs, they’ll also share the stories that inspired them. Other highlights of the 5th Annual Richard Leigh Songwriters’ Festival, a performance by the 2017 Songwriters Contest winner Lee Leanders, the 2018 Songwriting Contest that allows local songwriters to compete for a chance to perform with Richard Leigh at Nashville’s historic Bluebird Café.

Friday, May 25 at Heartwood: Songwriter Competitors perform 5:00-9:00 pm

Saturday, May 26 at SWVHEC: Lee Leanders at 6:30 pm and Nashville Songwriters 7:00-10:00 pm.
