Richard II Directed by Mary Lou Rosato (May 23rd - June 2)
Event Information
Description
"Let us sit upon the ground and tell sad stories of the death of Kings..."
A great deal has changed since the Middle Ages, and yet Shakespeare seems to defy linear time and remain relevant. Regime changes all around the world in today's time, seem to so closely resemble the deposition of King Richard II that it is as if our current time was prophecied in 1399.
Armed with some of Shakespeare's finest poetry, Richard II, tells the story of the inverted journeys of two men: the fall of King Richard of Bordeaux at the hands of his cousin Henry Bolingbroke (Henry IV). It is an epic tale of inheritance, family, betrayal, and power.
