About this event
The Foundry invites you to celebrate the completion of our upstairs renovation. The renovation of the upstairs has been a long time coming - but it's been worth the wait! Longtime Foundry partner The Service Collaborative of WNY and its program WNY YouthBuild committed to moving their youth training and some staff offices to our space - combining forces to offer stronger educational programming for our city's youth. They are now occupying over 2000 sq ft upstairs and will be partnering on a manufacturing training program starting January 2020. In addition, this renovation means 5 additional spaces for fostering small business start ups who will have an economic impact in the WNY region. We are excited to show you the hard work of the past several years and the growth it brings!

About:
The Foundry is an educational makerspace and business incubator located on Buffalo's east side. We work with youth to explore various career paths, hands-on skill building and new digital literacies involved in making in our five shared makerspaces - wood, metal, tech, textile and digital fabrication. We believe creating opportunities and conditions necessary for self sufficiency and economic stability promotes a healthier community. We assist with business incubation by providing affordable rental space, access to equipment, facilitating connections to mentoring and offering business classes and workshops.
The Service Collaborative of WNY (TSC) is the regional agency improving the lives of those in need, and also those with the desire to make a difference, through volunteerism. TSC creates opportunities for all individuals to serve their communities, challenging them to turn their ideas into action and their passion into positive change. WNY YouthBuild, a program of TSC, is a transformational youth development program that offers young people, ages 16-24, full-time academic and occupational skills training and practical experience in preparation for "in-demand" industry careers.
