Description
Description:
The William M. Davies, Jr. Career & Technical High School is a 220,000 square foot multi-story career and technical high school located in Lincoln, RI. The school continues to implement projects as part of its five-year capitol project plan to reduce operational energy use and improve indoor environmental quality at the school. In recent years, the school has begun to implement programs and policies in accordance with NE-CHPS 2.0 Policy and Operations requirements. The school recently completed a comprehensive lighting and lighting controls upgrade project that was executed through National Grid’s Project Expeditor Program.
The Rhode Island Energy Code Compliance Baseline Study completed in 2012 shows that the two areas where projects are least compliant with the energy code are building enclosure and lighting. This project exceeded the Rhode Island code requirements for lighting power density as calculated by the Building Area method of the State Building Code – 8 (SBC-8).
Tour participants will see the project lighting and controls and gain understanding of the design that led to the significant energy savings. In addition, through participating in National Grid’s Project Expeditor program, the project achieved a simple payback of approximately 2 years.
