About this event
We're so excited to welcome music educator Zazzy Zoe to the REC Room! Zoe is a phenomenal teacher who brings her knowledge and fun to dozens of local schools, and now she's bringing her skills to our community!
During this special 4-week class series in December, participants work on musical concepts such as dynamics, like volume, duration, like tempo, beat, and rhythm, and form, like echoing. But don’t let all that formal talk fool you! Part of the beauty of what Zoe does is that kids will begin to learn and practice these fundamentals of music all while having a blast singing silly and interesting songs, often accompanied by musical paraphernalia like shaker eggs, dancing scarves, and drums. Students will learn how to use their bodies as instruments to create beats and rhythms as well.
The class will meet from 10:15–11 AM for four weeks: December 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd. Tickets for the full class series are priced on a sliding scale and discounts are available for additional family members. Single class/drop-ins are possible but are dependent on space and not guaranteed!
About Zoe:
Zazzy Zoe has been making music with youngsters of various ages for about two decades, and for the last nine years has made a career in facilitating music in preschools and performing for young children and their families. While creating music, rhythms, and movements with objects like shaker eggs, dance/play scarves, frame drums, gathering drums, rhythm sticks, and of course voices and bodies, kids get to have FUN while forming/growing foundational musical principles and a love of music. Zoe also has an impressive collection of stuffies, which often make appearances during her music classes. Her music often corresponds with the changing of the seasons, the natural world, time of year, festivities/celebrations, and weather, making the music relevant to what's going on in our surrounding environment. Zoe loves to write songs, modify the songs of others, and write music and add lyrics to little snippets she finds online.
