Celebrate the beginning of the growing season with Pittsburgh Canning Exchange and our friend Marissa McClellan, author of the wonderful Food in Jars blog and cookbook and the forthcoming Preserving by the Pint: Quick Seasonal Canning for Small Spaces.
We'll have live music, free food and drink from Wigle Whiskey and Marty's Market, canning demonstrations, canning cookbooks for sale and canning-related merch, and a "Leave a Jar, Take a Jar" table for your home preserved concoctions. We will also present our schedule of Canning Parties for 2014 growing season.
Proceeds from the Rhubarb Social will help the Pittsburgh Canning Exchange achieve our goal of providing low-priced canning workshops that make use of local organic produce. Join us to celebrate the return of summer — see you there!
So, what does my ticket price get me?
Delicious food from Marty's Market, local preserved food from our friends at Legume, a special rhubarb cocktail from Wigle Whiskey, music from our friends the May Day Marching Band and DJ Chris Flyer, and canning superstar Marisa McClellan!
Where do the proceeds from my ticket go?
The profit from the event will go to help fund the Canning Exchange's second year of programming. We run Canning Parties to teach people to home preserve food in an innovative, hands-on format. One of our goals is to connect people to local agriculture, so we use local, organic produce in our Canning Parties, but we want to keep the ticket price for Canning Parties accessible for as many people as possible. The proceeds from our ticket sales will help us accomplish these goals!
I have all these shelf-stable jars of food left over from last year — does anyone want them?
Yes! We'll have a table set up where you can leave a jar and take a jar home!
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions!
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Nope! We can check you in at the door!
What is the refund policy?
Sorry, no refunds!
Can I buy a ticket at the door instead?
Of course. Tickets at the door will cost $20.
