SPEAKERS

James Fallows | National Correspondent, The Atlantic

The first-ever Europe Editor for The Atlantic, James Fallows is one of the world’s most respected journalists. Today, he’s reporting on how America is putting itself back together in the wake of recession and division. Through innovation, reinvention, and optimism, America is on the verge of a major resurgence—and Fallows has the personal, civic, community, and business stories that signal this new economic upturn. To find the real story of what America’s facing, Fallows embarked on a three-year, 54,000-mile journey by single-engine plane, visiting towns and cities across the country. The result is his Atlantic story “How America Is Putting Itself Back Together”: an in-depth study of the civic and individual reinventions happening in all corners of the country. These stories of strength and innovation show a different kind of America: one that’s raveling up the social fabric, and taking advantage of a new era of opportunity.

James Fallows presented in part by generous support from Knight Foundation.

Michael Sriprasert | President, Landmarks Development Corporation (LDC) and Landmarks Community Capital Corporation (LCC)

Michael Sriprasert is involved with all aspects of real estate development and lending. Sucessfully leading the application for certification of LCC as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) by the US Treasury Department, Michael has also raised significant capital to augment LCC’s loan funds. He oversees LDC’s real estate development work including its low-income housing and historic tax credit developments, and has also developed a unique partnership between Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College of Public Policy and Management and PNC Bank, to engage graduate students in a Fellowship Program to tackle real life community development issues affecting PHLF’s historic preservation work.
