Event description

Description

Chronic digestive disorders are rampant, with thousands suffering in silence from a range of chronic issues like irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease and coeliac disease --- to say nothing of the whole host of disorders that arise from intestinal permeability or “Leaky Gut Syndrome”

What’s worse, most patients don’t seek help for these painful and often life-altering conditions. They need to know functional medicine can help them!

Guest speakers featured in this month's broadcast content are:

  • Kristi Hughes, ND - long-time member of the Institute for Functional Medicine teaching staff, she will be sharing the core principles of using functional medicine to reverse digestive disorders.

  • Tom O'Bryan, DC, CCN, DACBN - a leading functional medicine educator, author and faculty member at the Institute for Functional Medicine's AFMCP course. In his talk, “How An Apple A Day Keeps the Doctor Away”, Tom will provide a variety of lifelong pearls for clinical practice.

  • Robert Abbott, MD - creator of “The Student Clinician's Guide to Functional Integrative Medicine”, will share how he is combining functional medicine, coaching and community to tackle chronic disease.

  • Angie Alt, CHC—a nutritionist who conducted a recent study on how the autoimmune paleo diet can positively affect digestive disorders. Angie will share the data from her study and elaborate on how the AIP community has a role to play in reversing digestive disorders.

Live guest speaker:

We're delighted to be joined by Sue Camp, Clinical Education Manager from Invivo, who'll be giving an overview of the GI-MAP from Diagnostic Solutions. The GI-MAP™ utilises cutting-edge FDA-approved technology to provide a true DNA-based assessment of a patient's gut microbiome from a single stool sample. This arms the clinician with actionable information on microbes that are well-researched to cause disease or disrupt normal microbial balance and contribute to many inflammatory, autoimmune, metabolic, cardiovascular, and other chronic diseases. Sue will also give details of the special offer for practitioners for this test.

Who should attend?

  • Any practitioner who is curious about addressing the root cause of chronic disease

  • Any health professional who practices Functional Medicine, Preventative Medicine, Integrative Medicine, Holistic Medicine, Medical Stakeholders and other Health Professionals including Midwivess Pharmacists, Gastroenterologists, Health Coaches etc.

Although this event is targeted at practitioners, members of the public with an interest in the subject are more than welcome.
