About this Event

The Reverend Samuel J Delevoe Legacy Committee is pleased to announce the celebration of the 40th commemorative year of the proclamation of the Reverend Samuel Delevoe Day in the State of Florida. This commemorative occasion heralds the life and legacy of Reverend Samuel J. Delevoe, Sr. By the age of 41, Reverend Delevoe's service to Broward County included being one of the earliest Black officers with the Fort Lauderdale Police department, community activist, politician, businessman, community organizer, civil rights leader, Advocate, and Christian street minister that earned him the respect of local officials and neighbors.

He founded many existing community organizations such as the Minority Builders Coalition Inc. and Black Coalition of Broward County, as well as developed partnership with other community leaders to benefit the diverse residents of Broward County. The community will express appreciation for Reverend Delevoe's widow, Bishop Dr. Lois Jones Delevoe, who raised their sons (Pastor Samuel Delevoe, Jr. and Ambassador/Minister Patrice L. Delevoe, Sr.) to honor the family's legacy of love for the community.
