Join us in the scared city of Varanasi to immerse ourselves in the philosophy and practices of yoga. Based at Assi Ghat right on the banks of the Ganges, surrounded by this important pilgrimage center, we will study and discuss passages from esteemed yogic texts and learn specific daily practices that enable us return to the sacred inwardly as well as outwardly. Integrating these teachings and practices, we can strengthen our connection with the sacred within the complexities and possibilities of life in increasingly uplifting and fulfilling ways.

About the teachers:
San Francisco Bay Area filmmaker Saraswati Clere is the founder of Yogakula Productions and owns Yogakula Wellness Center in Berkeley, which attracts thousands of students each year. For the past 20 years Saraswati has trained in the Iyengar and Anusara Yoga method. She has been teaching yoga for 10 years and currently offers teacher training programs. Saraswati has produced a line of educational CDs and DVDs in collaboration with some of the world’s most prominent yoga teachers and scholars. She is the director of the Kula Coworking Hub and offers monthly workshops designed to empower and support entrepreneurs to be successful in business and in life.
In 2011 Saraswati produced Yogawoman, an award-winning documentary narrated by Annette Bening, that features 50 of the world’s leading experts – doctors, researchers, renowned yoga instructors – all empowered, compassionate, inspiring- all women. Since its release yoga woman has screened in 12 countries and has won five film awards.
William K. Mahony, PhD, is known for his informed and warm teaching that is accessible to students at all levels. An award winning professor and scholar, Bill has a deep personal understanding of the yogic life grounded in over four decades of his own spiritual practice. Bill has written numerous books on the contemplative and devotional traditions of India, including the recent Exquisite Love, an extended set of his reflections on the spiritual life based on the Bhakti Sutra. wkmahony.com
Shri Vivekshastri Godbole
Shri Vivekshastri Godbole is the head of Shree Krishna Yajurveda Pathshala in Satara, India. Vivek is widely known for his very evocative Vedic chanting, and also for his very accessible and fascinating explanations of Vedic philosophy, ritual and culture.
His family have been teaching and practicing the Vedic tradition for at least 18 generations. They run a Vedic school, which has been recognized by the UNESCO and the Government of India for preserving one of the 10 most endangered branches of the Vedas. In the US he is a core faculty member of Living Sanskrit and visiting faculty at Vedika Gurukulum.
