Event description

Description

Our homes define us, but sometimes need updating for accessibility, comfort, or to save on long term upkeep. While a full rennovation may be required for some homes, there are also low-impact retrofittings that can improve the performance of a home for its occupants. Whether you want to reduce the long-term operational costs of your home through energy savings, or improve the comfort and livability as your family develops, this session will offer some ideas for contractors and homeowners in the market for a remodel or retrofit.

Our speakers:
Sheri Newbold of live-work-play will discuss Aging in Place, and increasing accessibility in an existing home with simple details that often go unnoticed. Improving livability for aging populations, this building philosophy aims to keep residents in the comfort of their homes through the golden years. Learn about techniques and what to identify as aging in place improvement areas for your project.

Tadashi Shiga will present on Aerobarrier, an innovative product that helps to seal drafty homes for increased performance and comfort. Learn how this product is blown into place and how a drafty home can achieve passivehouse ventilation standards for new or existing buildings without tape, caulk, or other adhesives.
