Description

Retirement and the years leading up to it is a season filled with tension and new questions:

  • Do I have enough money to make it?
  • How should I fill my time?
  • How do I navigate uncertainty, financial worries, or changing health needs?
  • What could my role be in serving a younger generation?
  • Does God have a greater purpose for my later years?

We're creating a shared learning environment for church staff, those working in financial services, and those headed toward or in retirement. We'll explore the common but elite cultural narratives around retirement, suggesting it as a time of leisure for those who have saved up "their number." But we'll broaden that dialogue for Christians who also want to think about God's renewed vision for retired "work," meaningful rest, calling, and serving others from wisdom. Our discipleship and financial planning has a shared vision to make these choices more possible!

Jeff Haanen, executive director of the Denver Institute for Faith & Work, will offer keynote thoughts from his recent book An Uncommon Guide to Retirement. Lunch wil be provided.

This event is co-sponsored by Greenwood Community Church, Denver Institute for Faith & Work, and the Made to Flourish pastor's network.
