OPEN TO OSTEOPATHS ONLY

This is aimed at practitioners who are seeking updating their skills and for practitioners beginning the learning process with Assesment and Osteopathic Treatment for Retained Primitive Reflexes.

There will be a structured practical and theoretical component to the weekend.

Course content:

We will explore 8 Primitive Reflexes including Moro Reflex, Rooting Reflex, Palmar Reflex, ATNR, Spinal Galant Reflex, TLR, Landau Reflex, STNR.

Following this course, you will:

  • have an understanding of a simple assessment protocol for babies, toddlers and children.
  • have an understanding of exercises that you can give your patients to help integrate these reflexes.
  • have knowledge of various direct and indirect Osteopathic Techniques to assist with the integration of these reflexes.

COURSE FACILITATORS:

Presenter:

Jamie Taylor, Osteopath
Born in Palmerston North, Manawatu, New Zealand. Jamie trained at the European School of Osteopathy, (ESO) in Maidstone, England, 1990-1994.In 1997 Jamie began assisting on the undergraduate Osteopathic technique classes at the ESO and clinical supervision in the undergraduate Children's Clinic where he stayed until he moved back to NZ in 2005 after completing his MSc in Osteopathy. Jamie's practice is focused primarily on babies and pre/post pregnancy, however, he treats all age and a wide variety of complaints. Jamie has great skill in assisting and teaching students in the techniques of functional techniques and osteopathy in the cranial field.

Tutorial Assistant:

Thanuja Vanderhoek, Osteopath
Thanuja graduated with Bachelor and research Masters Degrees in Sydney and has undertaken postgraduate studies in Osteopathy in the cranial field. She has completed a graduate certificate in manual therapy for neonatal and infant paediatrics at Victorian University. Thanuja worked in Sydney for 10 years in Sydney and now is based in Albury in Regional NSW. Thanuja has a passion for assisting fellow Osteopaths to explore their cranial osteopathy and functional skills.
