Description

The purpose of this program is to assist youth aged 16-21 with the development of a resume and provide resources for a job search. The program is six weeks and will meet Every Thursday from 530pm - 730pm beginning September 14, 2017

Course Requirements: There are no educational requirements for taking this course other than a high school reading and writing level of the English language. All material will be provided. Donations welcomed.

Course Description: This course teaches youth what a resume should look like and what it should say. It walks you step-by-step through the creation of the most common sections found on resumes in today’s job market. In addition to helping youth determine what information should be included, it also goes a step further to help youth realize what pitfalls to avoid when creating this powerful job search tool.

Learning Objectives (outcomes):

By completing this task students will be able to:

  • o Understand the nature and purpose of a resume
  • o Examine a variety of resumes to determine best layout, content, and style
  • o Develop and produce their own resume
  • o Use internet to complete a job search
  • o Complete job applications independently
