Event description

Description

Irons Oaks Environnmental Learning Center in Olympia Fields is filled with huge, majestic remnant Oaks. These old and stately oaks are in trouble and we need your help! Invasive species such as buckthorn and honeysuckle are choking out the habitat for new sapling oaks to thrive and we are missing the next generation of oaks. We need volunteers to help remove buckthorn and honeysuckle to help prepare for our Arbor Day tree planing event on April 27th.

We are offering 4 restoration dates. Sign up for one or as many dates as you would like. This is a great opportunity for those who like to give back to the environment, need community service hours or companies who want to do a day of service and work together to support a good cause.

Dress for the weather and be prepared to be outside in the cold for at least 45 minutes at a time. A signed volunteer waiver is required to participate.
