Event description

Description

As a faithful contributor to the Amah Mutsun Land Trust (AMLT) you understand how important it is that we learn from the thousands of years of successful land stewardship undertaken by Native people.

Please join the Amah Mutsun Land Trust for an evening of education and appreciation at the University of California Berkeley.

On December 7th, the UC Berkeley Department of Anthropology and the Amah Mutsun Land Trust welcome you to an intimate conversation to learn about the ways the Amah Mutsun are restoring indigenous stewardship to their ancestral lands.

At this exclusive donor event, experts from UC Berkeley and from the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band will describe a unique collaboration that combines cutting-edge archaeological research with ancient methods of land stewardship to restore coastal prairie along the central coast of California. You will get a special look at our Native Stewardship Corps program and will see the powerful impact your donation is making on the lives and the lands of the Amah Mutsun people.

Please join us to hear short presentations from Amah Mutsun Tribal Council Chair Valentin Lopez, UC Berkeley Professor Kent Lightfoot, AMLT Research Associate Rob Cuthrell, AMLT Executive Director EkOngKar Singh Khalsa, and AMLT Director of Programs and Development Sara French.

UPDATE: We are excited to announce we will be serving Native foods at this event, provided by Cafe Ohlone by mak-'amham! Get ready to sample venison meatballs, sweets made from acorn and hazelnut, and a delicious Ohlone salad. You won't want to miss this!

This is a special event for major donors, intended to share the extraordinary outcomes the Amah Mutsun Land Trust is achieving with your steadfast support. We hope you will join us to reflect on the exciting and important work we are able to accomplish together.

Please feel free to bring friends or loved ones to this special celebration!
