Charlie Delf - Team Leader from Leading Lives attended the Restore2 mini training that was held in October last year delivered by Skills for Care. Charlie’s feedback:

"The Restore 2 mini training was an hour jam packed session, which equipped me with the tools necessary to identify deterioration within our customers. Preventing and stopping deterioration by educating, advocating our customers and staff can prevent avoidable death. The Restore2 mini also provided me with the knowledge of raising complaints within the NHS and local authorities. It is a great session, equipping you with the confidence to act."

RESTORE2 is a physical deterioration and escalation tool for care homes, people who live in supported living and supporting people who live in their own homes. It’s based on nationally recognised methodologies.

The tool is intended to be used by carers, where the care and support is being undertaken by a paid or unpaid carer, a care worker, a personal assistant or support worker.

The training includes a background on the ‘soft signs’ of deterioration, and what we mean by ‘deterioration’; including the benefits of using deterioration tools, the importance of understanding when someone becomes unwell, what factors could ensure the best outcome, annual health checks, spotting signs of cancer and what to do in a medical emergency.

The tool helps you to find out if the person you’re supporting is feeling unwell. SBARD is a way of communicating when someone is unwell, especially with medical professionals.

Outcomes of the session include:

Increased awareness of the RESTORE2 MINI resources which can be used in the workplace
Confidence and knowledge of being able to find out if the person being supported is feeling unwell
Better understanding of the importance of SBARD and communicating when someone is unwell.
