Event description

Description

Our December Nature Program is "Restorative Trails in the Great Cities: Walks and Talks of an American Urbanist"! Janet Anderson walked 400 miles across the 12 cities that anchored America's stunning rise to prosperity, and found a path to restoring America's vitality, for all Americans.

Part travelogue, part classroom lecture and part memoir, this program will inspire you to walk and show you fascinating places to do it here in Detroit and beyond. After her talk, Janet will take program participants on a short walk on Belle Isle where she'll talk about the history and ecology of our treasured Detroit island!

Janet Anderson, Ph.D is a lifelong Detroit resident, career city of Detroit executive, Adjunct Professor at Wayne State University, and author of two books about the old cities of America, "Island in the City: How Belle Isle Changed Detroit Forever" (2001) and "Walks and Talks of an American Urbanist Through America's Great Cities" (2017).
