Restorative Justice for Sexual Violence Workshop
Event Information
About this Event
Join Respect(Ed) for a dive into restorative justice, particularly as it applies to sexual violence. We'll give brief background info and history, cover the key guiding principles, talk about how sexual violence differs from other crime and community harm, and walk you through how principles of restorative justice could be applied to some different common scenarios.
This workshop is open to all knowledge levels. If you have never heard of restorative justice before or aren't sure what it is, no worries!
This workshop will cover much of the content in our Restorative Justice for Sexual Violence Toolkit coming out this March that will be available through our website if you can't make it or want to reference the content for later. This month, Respect(Ed) is also producing our first zine, To Do Well: Survivor Exploration of (Restorative) Approaches to Justice, written and illustrated by one of our own team members. We recommend the zine as an accompaniment to this practical content as it offers some beautiful insight as to why survivors may decline to pursue justice.
We are excited to see you all for the workshop!
As always, we are happy to answer any questions. More information on the toolkit and zine will be added to our website shortly at https://www.respectedpeereducation.org/Home.
