“In My Father’s House” I don’t remember the date when I started my journey into a foreign land, but I do remember the date when I came to myself in that hog pen. July 21, 2008 - On this day, I looked at my pre- cious wife Kelly and admitted that I was addicted to drugs. I had thought for years if I admitted to her that I had a drug problem, she would leave me forev- er and that would be the end of my marriage. Just the opposite happened. She threw her arms around me and began to weep. The first step was to get me to a hospital. I won’t give all the details, but will tell you that the drugs that so held me cCaptive should have killed me. Words cannot truly communicate what I went through for the next 3 days. 3 days into detox a man came to visit me in the hospital. I had never met him before. His name is Dr. Thomas Benard. This Man of God is anointed to minister to people caught in the trap of addition. He did not cry on my shoulder. I cried to Dr. Benard and told him how God had called me, how I had turned my back on the ministry, and gave him the ole poor, poor, pitiful me junk. This man of God looked me in the eye, grabbed me by the hand, and said, “Enough!” In that hospi- tal, he prayed for me to be set free and I testify that at that very moment I was delivered from the affliction of drug addiction. I was set free! He whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Glo- ry to God! I spent a total of 10 days in that hospital before returning home. With my wife by my side eve- ry second, we spent 30 days praying and letting Him begin His Restoration. This was 40 days and 40 nights that forever changed my life. I don't understand His Restoration.....but I sure do enjoy knowing it! I will say that every time I share my story, I am completely shocked at how many Brothers and Sisters in Christ are in bondage to substance abuse. At the very least, most every Child of God has someone they are close to that needs deliverance from substance abuse. I have been set free from the bondage that drugs had on my life. On July 21, 2008 I “came to myself” in a hog pen. Today I am dancing to the music of His “Restoration Celebration” In the Father’s House!
