Event description

Description

Classroom:

“Stand your ground” isn't a magic phrase that transforms a use of force into a lawful use of force. This class explores the dynamics of deadly force encounters to include the reasonable man doctrine, the lawful use of force, interacting with responding officers, and more.

Lee Weems combines two decades of law enforcement experience along with his education from places such as the Force Science Institute, the Law of Self Defense Instructor Program, the Massad Ayoob Group Deadly Force Instructor certification course, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers Use of Force Instructor Training Program, and many others to create the content for this presentation.

Live Fire:

The live fire session will culminate with students shooting the FBI Pistol Qualification Course. Those who shoot a passing score will receive documentation that they passed the course as administered by a graduate of the FBI Police Firearms Instructor Course.

The live fire session will cover such topics as the safe handling of firearms, rapid presentation from the holster, accurate fire at speed, reloading, and more.

Students will need to bring the following:

All personal safety equipment (eye/ear protection, brimmed hat, etc)

A quality firearm with a minimum 6-shot capacity

Minimum of three magazines of 10-round capacity or more; a minimum of five magazines if less than 10-round capacity. Revolver shooters will need at least five loaders.

A holster that will not collapse when the pistol is drawn and that does not have a retention device that requires the use of the trigger finger to actuate (such as the Serpa). AIWB is good to go, but no crossdraw or shoulder rigs.

Concealment garment

Personal comfort items (drinks, snacks, chairs, etc)

300 rounds of ammunition

Skill Level: In order to attend this class, the student should be capable of following directions, accepting coaching, and have safe gun-handling skills. There will be some movement with drawn pistols and shots at 25 yards. There will be strict time and accuracy standards.

The fee for the class is $125.00. A spot in the class may be secured by paying a $50.00 non-refundable deposit. Credit card fees apply if paid online via Eventbrite.

Weather Policy: If the weather is such that it jeopardizes the students' safety, the class will be postponed or delayed as appropriate. Otherwise, the class will go forth as scheduled rain or shine.

Cancellation Policy: The deposit is non-refundable if you choose not to attend the class. If the range were to cancel, full refunds will be made. If I am forced to cancel the class for reasons other than the outlined above, students will have the option of a refund of their deposit or attending the course on another date at a reduced fee.

I reserve the right to cancel the class and grant full refunds if fewer than eight students sign up for the class.
