Responding to WRS: a community-led campaign (workshop & brunch)

A cross-organisational group of sex worker activists from SWAD (Sex Work Alliance Destigmatisation) joined an action group to develop a national campaign to respond to the imminent threat of a new set of regulations and legislation in the Netherlands (WRS).

During this brunch we will come together for a workshop with sex worker advocates from the Netherlands, to acquire a better understanding of the upcoming law and regulation and to develop together the campaign slogans and key messages.

Een organisatieoverstijgende groep sekswerkersactivisten van SWAD (Sex Work Alliance Destigmatisation) sloot zich aan bij een actiegroep om een landelijke campagne te ontwikkelen om te reageren op de dreigende nieuwe wet- en regelgeving in Nederland (WRS).

Tijdens deze brunch komen we samen voor een workshop met belangenbehartigers van sekswerkers uit Nederland, om een beter begrip te krijgen van de komende wet- en regelgeving en om samen de campagneslogans en kernboodschappen te ontwikkelen.

Un grupo interorganizacional de trabajadoras sexuales activistas de SWAD (Sex Work Alliance Destigmatisation) se unió a un grupo de acción para desarrollar una campaña nacional para responder a la amenaza inminente de un nuevo conjunto de regulaciones y legislación en los Países Bajos (WRS).

Durante este brunch nos reuniremos para un taller con defensores de las trabajadoras sexuales de los Países Bajos, para adquirir una mejor comprensión de la próxima ley y regulación y para desarrollar juntos los eslóganes de la campaña y los mensajes clave.

SWAD is an alliance of 22 organizations and initiatives working together to reduce the stigma on sex work. A cross-organisational group of sex worker activists from SWAD (Sex Work Alliance Destigmatisation) joined an action Group to develop a national campaign to respond to the imminent threat of a new set of regulations and legislation in the Netherlands (WRS). These changes will negatively impact sex workers' human rights in the Netherlands and might expand stigma and discrimination towards the community.

The campaign imagined by the action group includes interventions such as media training of community members championing decriminalisation in the Netherlands, engagement with Dutch media, an online awareness raising campaign and face to face dialogues with the broader public.

SWAD is een alliantie van 22 organisaties en initiatieven die samenwerken om het stigma op sekswerk te verminderen. Een organisatieoverstijgende groep sekswerkersactivisten van SWAD (Sex Work Alliance Destigmatisation) sloot zich aan bij een actiegroep om een nationale campagne te ontwikkelen om te reageren op de onmiddellijke dreiging van een nieuwe reeks wet- en regelgeving in Nederland (WRS). Deze veranderingen zullen een negatieve invloed hebben op de mensenrechten van sekswerkers in Nederland en kunnen het stigma en de discriminatie naar de gemeenschap toe vergroten.

De door de actiegroep bedachte campagne omvat interventies zoals mediatraining van gemeenschapsleden die pleiten voor decriminalisering in Nederland, betrokkenheid bij de Nederlandse media, een online bewustmakingscampagne en face-to-face dialogen met het bredere publiek.

Un grupo interorganizacional de trabajadoras sexuales activistas de SWAD (Sex Work Alliance Destigmatisation) se unió a un grupo de acción para desarrollar una campaña nacional para responder a la amenaza inminente de un nuevo conjunto de regulaciones y legislación en los Países Bajos (WRS). Estos cambios tendrán un impacto negativo en los derechos humanos de las trabajadoras sexuales en los Países Bajos y podrían expandir el estigma y la discriminación hacia la comunidad.
