Event description

Description

Organised by the Cataloguing and Indexing Group in Scotland, this all day seminar will present different perspectives on resource discovery for library, archival and other educational and cultural collections.

With the advent of next generation web scale discovery layers supplementing or replacing traditional and in-house catalogues, institutional resource discovery environments are changing beyond recognition.

But what does this mean for our collections, and for our users?

The seminar will seek the views of users, cataloguers, reference services and systems staff, and developers, and explore the impact that these new discovery layers are having on discovery and integration of collections across libraries, archives, universities and other cultural institutions.

This event will be of value to information profesionals with an interest in metadata, user services, resource discovery, discovery systems and integrated use of collections.

Speakers are still being confirmed, but the event will include presentations from the Universities of Durham and St Andrews, the National Library of Scotland and Jisc.

Registration opens at 10am, with the seminar starting at 10:30.

Admission cost includes refereshments and a buffet lunch.

We look forward to welcoming you in March!
