ABOUT THIS CLASS

This workshop-style course is an introduction to working with realtime video and projection mapping in Resolum’s Arena 6. Capable of realtime 2D and 3D graphics, live HD video mixing, and complex projection mapping, Arena is the go-to choice of software for industry professionals and artists working in venues ranging from experimental gallery installations to large-scale performance arenas. Whether you are a visual artist looking to incorporate realtime video graphic into your work, or a musical looking to add a visual element to your performances or music videos, Arena has the ability to make your video ideas a reality.

This introductory course breaks down the complexity of working in Arena and gives you a step-by-step guide to getting your ideas projected in the real world. Students will be able to take the skills gained in the course and apply them to a wide range of visual applications including interactive video for theatre and performance, realtime video and VJ techniques for musicians, and generative video installations.

The course will focus on helping each student to develop their own projects through hands-on workshopping and in-class practice. The course culminates in a public showcase where students have the opportunity to show their work as installations, performances, or even collaborations with other dadageek students.
