About this Event

This panel convenes an international group of scholars who research the communities, institutions, and armed groups implicated in the Colombian conflict in order to illuminate our understanding of how it is that civilian actors build peace and resist war.

The panel features: Oliver Kaplan, Associate Professor, Joseph Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver and Author of Resisting War: How Communities Protect Themselves; Gwen Burnyeat, Wolfson Scholar, University College London and Author of Chocolate, Politics and Peace-building: An Ethnography of the Peace Community of San José de Apartadó, Colombia; Sebastian Ramirez, Postdoctoral Research Associate, Global Health Studies Program, Princeton University.
