Resisting Racism Program

An enriching and challenging event for Lay and Clergy who seek to find ways to implement the totality of Jesus' message and ministry

Program: RESISTING RACISM: Building on our nation’s greater and more public awareness of racism and white privilege, this workshop seeks to provide opportunities for participants to deepen their own knowledge (mindset), motivation (heart set), and capabilities (skillset) for resisting racism. Specific strategies for taking what is learned back to a local context will be included as well.

  • “Resisting Racism 101: Redefining Racism” is an introduction for people who are just entering the work of resisting racism. Participants will learn how to define racism, recognize the differences between individual and structural racism, and practice developing “systemic awareness.”
  • “Resisting Racism 201: from Building Relationships to Anti-Racism” provides “next steps” for people who have already been doing work at the introductory level but are committed to digging deeper and to the work of interrupting racism. This section is offered with people who identify as white progressives and People of Color who resist racism in white dominant spaces, specifically in mind.”
  • “Resisting Racism 301: Honorably Building Multi-Racial, Multi-Cultural Anti-Racist Coalitions” provides knowledge and strategies for resisting racism at the level of policy, procedure, power, and practice.”
