Event description
This Teachable course was originally compiled for our 2021 4th Annual Gentrification Conference.

About this event

Overview:

This Teachable course was originally compiled for our 2021 4th Annual Gentrification Conference. All modules are the result of this 2-day event which was held on April 9-10, 2021. We recorded all of the conference sessions in order to provide them as a future learning resource for those who attended live, and those who would like to learn more about gentrification after the fact.

what you'll learn:

-Learn about gentrification and city-wide housing activism

-Discover Teen Empowerment’s “Clarissa Uprooted: Youth & Elders Uncover the Story of Black Rochester” documentary

-Learn about keynote speaker Gus Newport and his story of promoting racial and social justice in Rochester and beyond

registration:

We have moved to a "gift economy" structure for all class registration tickets, meaning although this content does have a cost to us as an organization, we trust you to select an option that is right for you. This may be based on your ability to pay, want to support our organization, or what you feel is an equitable price.

registration options:

Registration - $30

Registration + Fund Someone Else's Class - $60

Full Scholarship - $0

age:

This class is appropriate for ages 18+

what to expect:

You can browse the various modules to learn more about organizations working toward housing justice in Rochester, NY, hear the lived experiences of those who have experienced gentrification first-hand, and explore supplemental resources for instances of this outside of our community. This is meant to be explored at your own pace, and will be available in perpetuity to revisit.

Location:

This self-guided class will take place online through teachable. Class access links will be received after online registration. If you do not receive your link, or have trouble navigating this platform, please check your spam or email info540westmain@gmail.com
