This workshop led by Resis’dance aims to give an opportunity for female, trans, and non-binary people to learn the basics of DJing in a welcoming, non judgemental environment.
In this workshop we will go through setting up your equipment from scratch, how to identify problems in sound, basics of CDJs, mixing, beat matching and double time phenomenon - no previous DJ experience is required.
Resis'dance exists to make a platform for women, especially marginalised women; women of colour, trans women, working class women, women who are struggling, non-binary identifying people. It’s about saying these women are doing amazing things, affirming their value, and giving them platform to showcase their work and passions.
Resis'dance is a collective of women aiming to smash the patriarchy one party at a time.
Resis’dance aims to:
Raise money for grass roots political action
Build political affinity on the dance floor with affiliated groups
Take-up space for women in a male dominated party scene
Create safe, inclusive wicked party spaces!
Create anti-commercial party spaces
Support venues that are at risk of gentrification
Support venues that are fighting back against gentrification
