Event description
See how area families responded when faced with the unthinkable.

About this event

Little known stories connect Excelsior with historic events like the Minneapolis truck drivers’ strike and riot, the origin of Roller Derby, and early steps towards equality for women. A cow, some very productive bees, a midnight snack, and one particular spot on a roller coaster all contributed to tragic outcomes. See how area families responded when faced with the unthinkable.

$5.00 donation recommended per person.

Please note that even though the event is virtual, the number of viewers is limited. Attendees will be provided with a link to access the virtual event via Google Meet. There will also be a call-in option.

Join ELMHS or renew your membership here.

Q1: This event is virtual, why are the tickets limited?

A1: ELMHS has a Google Suite subscription which limits the number of devices that can connect to our live programs on Google Meet. We may choose to limit this number even further in order to make facilitating the programs easier. This allows for better dialogue between our viewers and the presenters.

Q2: Will this program be recorded and made available later?

A2: Yes. We will record this program and make it available to ELMHS members at no extra cost via our Eduvision channel. Non-members will not have access to the recorded program. Join ELMHS or renew your membership here.

Q3: How do I access the meeting?

A3: You will receive an email to the address you registered with on Eventbrite. Using the information in the email, there are two ways to join the meeting: 1. download the Google Meet app, click "Join or start a meeting," then type in the meeting code. Or, 2. Copy and paste the link for the meeting into your web browser. Note that joining by copying and pasting the link will have more limitations than using the app.

Q4: I am having trouble accessing the meeting. What should I do?

A4: If you followed the instructions for A3 above and are still having trouble accessing the program. Visit Google's troubleshooting page and see the subsection titled "For Meet video calls." Make sure you are using a supported web browser and operating system; have the recommended minimum system requirements; and that your internet has sufficient bandwidth.

Q5: I don’t have a Gmail account, can I still access the meeting?

A5: Yes. Follow the instructions for accessing the meeting in A3 above using option number 2 to join.
