Description

Many online tools are available to local decision-makers to understand the future impacts of climate change. This webinar will briefly illustrate the key points of several tools, provide information on useful applications, and direct participants to tutorial and demonstration resources. Communities can use these tools as a starting point to plan for future scenarios. Mapping outputs can be incorporated into conversations with the public or into planning documents or to begin to identify areas for future development based on projected climate impacts.

Participants in the webinar are eligible for .75 AICP CM credits.

The Together North Jersey Resilience Webinar Series

This webinar is the third in a three-part series on resiliency planning co-sponsored by the Together North Jersey (TNJ) Resilience Task Force and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA). The Together North Jersey Resilience Webinar Series presents information on approaches and tools available to local decision-makers to reduce the vulnerability of their communities to climate change. As part of the TNJ 2.0 initiative, the webinar series emphasizes the path to implementation, highlighting successful projects in North Jersey and elsewhere in the state and providing information on funding opportunities.

Together North Jersey 2.0 and the Resilient Task Force

Together North Jersey (TNJ) was created in 2011 to develop the first comprehensive plan for sustainable development for the North Jersey planning region, which consists of the Counties of Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren. A broad coalition of over 100 diverse partners developed the plan, which is centered on the four themes of Competitive, Efficient, Livable and Resilient. The plan proposes strategies and specific actions to achieve sustainability goals for the region.

TNJ 2.0, the implementation phase of the initiative, was launched in 2015. To shepherd and guide the implementation of the actions and strategies identified in the plan TNJ has established four Task Forces, one for each key vision theme. The Resilient Task Force meets quarterly to discuss progress on implementing TNJ strategies and make suggestions for training and technical assistance pertaining to the topics under the Resilient Theme.
