Nature has wired you to be immensely resilient however in today’s world we do not have the physical threats of our ancestors instead, we are triggered by things like emails, computer crashes, and traffic jams. We are not wired to instinctively be resilient to these mental triggers but there are skills and exercises that you can learn to build this mental muscle. When we have these skills, we create a recipe for well-being, success, productivity and engagement.

The Bounce Back Better® program, a Flourishing Center program, is a resilience skills training program that focuses on teaching participants the key skills and theories they need to know to help them be more effective and adaptable in the world. They learn skills for caring for their mental, emotional and physical health. When participants learn and apply these skills, they gain a sense of personal mastery over their lives and feel better able to handle whatever life throws their way.

The skills progressively build on top of one another through four levels of competence which we call Level 1 – Scholar, Level 2 – Ninja, Level 3 – Maven and Level 4 – Jedi Master.

Level 1 - Scholar: GROWTH MINDSET/EMOTIONAL POWER/PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

  • Decrease stress and feelings of overwhelm.
  • Understand how to turn obstacles into opportunities.
  • Free yourself from the weight of worry, judgment and self-doubt.
  • Move through negative emotions with greater ease.
  • Learn why it's hard to make movement a priority and how to avoid the procrastination trap.
  • Discover how your body affects your mind.

Level 2 - Ninja: REFRAMING CRITICISM/THOUGHTS & FEELINGS/BREATHING

  • Learn to redirect debilitating thoughts, take your brain to court and create more optimistic and resilient thoughts.
  • Uncover how to be your own cognitive coach by learning and practicing the skills that make it simple to focus your mind.
  • Understand threat mode and what triggers people into their emotional brain.
  • Learn to communicate more effectively and navigate challenging social dynamics by working with other people’s beliefs and emotions.
  • Increase your heart rate variability, one of the best marks for health and wellness.
  • Learn simple and powerful ways to shift your energy, just through your breath.

Level 3 - Maven: WORKING WITH WORRY/ENERGY MANAGEMENT/NUTRITION

  • Identify how worry is wired within your brain and body
  • Prevent panic attacks and catastrophizing thinking.
  • Strengthen your willpower and self-control.
  • Learn to get “in the zone” and into states of peak performance.
  • Learn the true meaning of a balanced diet.
  • Identify small yet powerful lifestyle changes that can enhance your wellbeing.

Level 4 - Jedi: MIND OVER CHATTER/EMOTION ALCHEMY/MIND-BODY FITNESS

  • Reframe "What if" thoughts and worries into active problem solving.
  • Learn about the benefits of mindfulness and simple practices for creating more space in your life between the stimulus and your response.
  • Emotional alchemy involves transforming negative emotions into positive emotions in real-time.
  • Increase your positive emotion muscle and induce positive emotions at will.
  • Learn quick interventions for countering the physical and emotional stresses of daily life.
  • Use your body as a tool to impact your mind.
