Event description

Description

Corstorphine Community Centre and Dr Elaine Smith (Clinical Psychologist, Corstorphine Psychology Services) are delighted to bring a FREE community screening of the Resilience Documentary.

This film focuses on the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) - now deemed to be one of the principal causes of serious mental and physical health conditions. It is an engaging and moving documentary.

We invite members of the community who are involved in working with young people (birth to adolescence). We believe that this film will have relevance across professions. A special invite is also extended to the voluntary sector.

Tickets are limited to 2 per organisation to ensure we can reach as many organisations as possible. Please contact us if you have a request for more staff - we will consider requests if there are special circumstances.

Some of you may be aware that Scotland is leading an ACE aware movement. This is your chance to become involved and think about how our community can contribute.

The evening will include:

  • 5pm - Post work refreshments (tea and coffee!) on arrival with an opportunity to mingle
  • Welcome - Shulah Allan (Corstorphine Community Centre) will welcome all attendees
  • A short introduction to the film led by Dr Elaine Smith (Clinical Psychologist, Corstorphine Psychology Services)
  • 5.30pm - Resilience film screening (1 hour)
  • 6.30pm - Short discussion - led by Shulah Allan

We look forward to seeing you and making our Corstorphine community more ACE aware.

Thanks,

Shulah Allan (Corstorphine Community Centre) and Dr Elaine Smith (Corstorphine Psychology Services)
