Connect & Learn

The Resilience Education Regional Professional Learning Cooperative (PLC) for the greater KC metro area

Hosted by Beth Sarver of Breathing Room KC in partnership with the Professional Team at the Host School

This series of events will set up in a different school location throughout the region each time we meet.**

Our first event in 2019 at Procter Elementary in Independence, MO.

Co-hosted by Principal Amy Hawley and her amazing staff.

9 am Meet and Greet with Coffee/ Tea and lite refreshments.

9:15 am Tour the Procter Elementary Trauma Sensitive School Program

  1. Meet Milli, Principal Amy Hawley's professional therapy dog and trusty sidekick.
  2. Check out the variety of classroom calming spots
  3. Learn more about the Power Plan: universal stress management plans for all staff and students
  4. Check out the Care Room and learn about how students are getting their brain health needs met during the school day
  5. Ask questions and learn from teachers and staff from Procter

10:30 am Resilience Unconference style "Show and Steal" Tool Share 3/ 20-minute rounds.

  • Walk away with multiple tangible tools for supporting your resilience and your ability to guide others into growing their own.
  • Mindfulness
  • Yoga
  • Make a Power Plan!
  • Brain Education for PreK-Elementary School Students
  • And more!! We are still looking for presenters, so reach out to Beth if you are interested and have something to share.

**Leavenworth School District will be hosting our next elementary Resilience Education Regional PLC in April!!



FAQs

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Carpool! As this is a regional event, bring your crew with you from Lawrence, Parkville and Leavenworth!

What can I bring into the event?

Journal, writing utensils, reusable beverage container for coffee/ tea or water, $ for donating to the food fund, dress comfortably and in layers... schools can run chilly, especially in the winter.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, don't worry about that. The registration is key for numbers associated with snacks and contact information in case of inclement weather.
