Description

This lecture is presented by Home Leasing!

Guy Worley
CEO/President, Columbus Downtown Development Corp.

Wondering how to transform underutilized spaces into energetic amenities? Hear a detailed case study, with pros, cons and lessons learned about how a neighborhood in Downtown Columbus went from a grayfield of underutilized parking lots and civic spaces to a harmonious trio of parks that became the catalyst for more than $400 million in private investment. Columbus Commons, the Scioto Mile and the Scioto Greenways have helped make Downtown Columbus a place where residents, workers and visitors want to live, work and play and public and private partners want to invest.

A leading figure in central Ohio's business, civic and public service community, Worley is a seasoned professional with more than 25 years of leadership, management, and financial experience. Since January 2007, Worley has served as President/Chief Executive Officer of Columbus Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC) and Capitol South Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation. He is focused on the redevelopment and revitalization of Downtown Columbus. Some of his city-changing projects include the renovation of the Lazarus Building into 700,000 square feet of office space, the redevelopment of the former City Center Mall site now known as Columbus Commons, the creation of The Scioto Mile, Columbus' riverfront park, and the restoration of the Scioto River and creation of a new greenways along the downtown waterway corridor. Columbus Commons, Scioto Mile and Scioto Greenways are all nationally recognized and award winning projects. Worley is currently focusing on the development of a new National Veterans Memorial & Museum and the creation of a new park and parking garage on the Scioto Peninsula.
