Event Details

July 29 – August 2, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

HSP presents a week-long genealogy course designed to explore the records and repositories available for researching ancestors in Pennsylvania. This is a complete “how to” course, training you to use the resources available at HSP and elsewhere to uncover your family’s story!

This course is designed for all levels from beginners to experienced family historians with a curriculum that takes participants through three primary questions:

  • What records are available?
  • Where are the records located?
  • How to decipher what you discover?

By the end of this course, you’ll have answers!

Friends of HSP support the institution’s mission by providing philanthropic donations that fund general operations. Learn more about the benefits of giving at hsp.org/friends.

Enrollment will be limited to 40 persons on a first come, first enrolled basis. No Refunds can be issued after June 28, 2019.

Historical Society of Pennsylvania

The Historical Society of Pennsylvania is one of the oldest historical societies and one of the largest family history libraries in the nation. Following a complete merger with the Balch Institute for Ethnic Studies, HSP is also a leading repository of immigrant and ethnic history. It is second only to the Library of Congress for material on the nation’s founding and is the country’s third most popular destination for genealogical study. With approximately 21 million records including manuscripts, graphics, and books that span over 350 years of history, HSP is an invaluable resource for historical research.

HSP serves thousands of on-site visitors each year. It also offers a research-by-mail service and extensive online resources, including a library catalog, finding aids, digital collection, and curricular materials. HSP hosts educator workshops and public programs, and publishes a quarterly scholarly journal. To learn more about HSP or to become a Friend, visit us at www.hsp.org.
