The African American Genealogy Group is having a genealogy workshop on Saturday, April 27, 2013, from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Family History Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Noted genealogists and specialists including Char McCargo Bah, Shamele Jordan, Michael Hait, Fallon Nicole Green, David Lynch, Allen McClain, Reginald Washington (National Archives), Angela Walton-Raji, Troy Messick, and Byron W. Woodson, Sr. will present timely topics includingDocumenting the First Days of Freedom, Using the Family History Center, Genealogy 101, Caribbean (Virgin Islands) Ancestry, Research Sources, Identifying Slave Owners in Maryland, DNA Research, Organizing Research Records, Southern Claims Commission, Genealogical Lineages, and African American Church Records. AAGG is a nonprofit organization with 25 years of providing encouragement of and support for genealogy research, serving the African American communities of Philadelphia and the Tri-State area. Our membership is comprised of novice, intermediate and advanced researchers. AAGG strives to provide its members and those interested in finding their African American ancestors with knowledgeable speakers and the resources in which to begin and/or advance their research techniques.
