Event description

Description

Donna Reiner and John Jacquemart of the Postwar Architecture Task Force of Greater Phoenix will guide a small group through researching a midcentury home or neighborhood using local resources and online databases. This hands-on workshop features a portable pop-up library including the Modern Phoenix archives with vintage magazines and newspapers from the 50s and 60s, and John's personal collection of primary sources.

We'll also mine resources in the Arizona Room at Burton Barr library and you'll learn how to access lots of maps, directories and vintage magazines. Presentation is at 10 am, with open-ended expert-guided research time from 11 am until 1.

Though this workshop focuses on postwar homes, John and Donna will be happy to assist those seeking information in pre-1945 homes as well.

Bring a laptop to research if you have one, and a camera to record your findings. A pre-workshop research organizer will be emailed to you to help you get ready for the day. Workshop meets in the 4th floor Lecture Hall.
