Description

Rescuing or Policing? Reflections and Insights into Social Work with People Experiencing Substance Use Problems

17 October 2019

Coventry University

10am - 12:30pm

Please note that this event is fully booked and entry will not be permitted without an EventBrite ticket for the named person.

In this workshop, participants will consider the nature of substance use in social work, and go on to explore experiences of social work practice across both Adults and Children and Families settings where substance use is a factor. Considering the perspectives of both people using services and practitioners, facilitators will help participants to reflect upon helpful and unhelpful approaches to relationships, and the potential pitfalls of both a ‘rescuer’ and ‘policing’ role.

The workshop will be led by Tom Borro and Jane Dunne from the Family Drug and Alcohol Court, and Luke Tibbits from Coventry University.

This event is funded through the West MIdlands Teaching Partnership.
