Rep Gubernatorial Debate at Redlands Tea Party Patriots, Jan 4
Event Information
Description
The two leading Rep Gubernatorial candidates, Travis Allen and John Cox, hold their first debate at the Redlands Tea Party Patriots meeting on Jan 4.
Thursday, January 4, 2017, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Mill Creek Cattle Co., 1874 Mentone Blvd, Mentone.
We are pleased and honored to host the first debate between the two Rep candidates for governor, Travis Allen and John Cox. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Redlands Tea Party Patriots and other Unite IE activists. It also reflects a new focus of the two Rep candidates on grassroots conservatives not the establishment.
Here are their websites.

We expect media coverage. The debate will be on YouTube and Facebook live.
Our purposes are:
1st To help make the case to the working men and women of California that after decades of corrupt, incompetent, leftist Dem government, it is time to make a change, and in the words of then Senator Jeff Sessions, we “will serve their needs– not the needs of the political class– first and always.”
2nd To help our members, Reps, conservatives, and all other Californians wanting to change the current corrupt, incompetent, leftist Dem government, choose which of the candidates, Travis Allen or John Cox, can best lead that effort.
Tickets
Because of the high interest in the event, we set up EventBrite tickets. Get your tickets quickly.
We can squeeze in 200 at the tables and two rows of 20 chairs up front. We emphasize “squeeze.” We will be cozy. [We will also save 4 front row seats for each our candidates.]
The table tickets are free, and the VIP seats up front are $20.
There will be no reserved seating so arrive early. Doors will open at 5:30. Come early and enjoy the great Mill Creek food.
Format
There will be opening statements, questions by a panel of Inland Empire activists and audience questions. Our panelists are John Berry [RTPP], Don Dix [ACT for America], and Judi Neal [Mtn. View Rep Club]. Greg Brittain will moderate and ask follow up questions.
Please think about and write your questions so you can ask them succinctly and get to the point. We are not going to prescreen the questions. We want to hear more from the candidates and less from us.
The debate will last 90 minutes.
Since the candidates agree on 95% plus of the issues, it will be easy to focus on things like Travis Allen contributed to Dems in 2010; John Cox voted for Gary Johnson instead of Donald Trump; Travis Allen received some contributions from Charles Munger; John Cox contributed to a group connected to George Soros, etc. Those are fair points. However, we hope debate will aim higher and focus on how to help the working men and women of California and how Reps can win in 2018.
Note on other candidates
Some people asked why we did not invite local candidates for governor, Robert Newman and Staysi Barth.
Our reasons are:
(1) We believe only John Cox and Travis Allen have a chance of getting to the second round election. (2) We promised John Cox and Travis Allen they would be the only candidates at the debate. (3) To have the John Cox and Travis Allen come to us for their first debate is a major get for RTPP members and our Unite IE allies. We can hear and see them in person and ask them questions. They would not have come if they had to share the stage with candidates who have no chance of getting to the second round. (4) It is our meeting, and we can choose who to invite.
