Event description

Description

Renewables Research
Our ever increasing energy demands rely on the intensive use of fossil fuels as energy source. Similarly, everyday chemicals and materials(e.g. plastics, pharmaceuticals, fertilisers) are often produced using fossil fuels both as feedstocks and an energy source. In addition to the challenge of fossil fuels being a finite resource, the negative impact of their use on climate change needs to be considered along with the impact of the large amounts of waste on our natural environment we produce.

Join us on Friday 02 November, 12-2pm to find out about how research at the University of Aberdeen can help transform the renewable energy industry to deliver:

  • efficient chemical storage of energy from renewables
  • the sustainable production of chemicals and materials from organic waste,
  • to evaluate the environmental and economic impacts of developing such technologies.

You will hear from colleagues at the University of Aberdeen about our approach to a novel and sustainable chemical industry. We will be joined by guests who will share the vision for our city as a leader in the renewables sector. Lunch and refreshments provided.
