Event description

Description

John Siegenthaler's RENEWABLE HEATING & COOLING WITH MODERN HYDRONICS TECHNOLOGY is a full-day “deep dive” into the balance-of-system between renewable energy Heating appliances and new, low temperature hydronic distribution heat emitters.

Field-tested and bulletproof
The instruction is filled with real-world lessons learned and situations to avoid—essential knowledge for heating professionals and engineers who are ready to ditch fossil fuel heating. This training is essential to achieving our renewable thermal energy goals.

Continuing Education Credits
This Course qualifies for continuing education credits from:
1. The Building Performance Institute (BPI) (3.5 credits)
2. Efficiency Vermont's Efficiency Excellence Network (EEN) needed to qualify for incentives (8 credits)
3. Vermont Department of Public Safety (heating systems, pressure vessel) Note: approval pending (1)

Topics covered include:

• New, retrofit, and site-built low temperature heat emitters
• Air-to-water heat pumps
• Geothermal heat pumps
• Wood pellet, wood chip, and cordwood boilers
• Integration of existing or auxiliary heat sources
• Comparison with load reduction through building envelope improvement
• Piping methods, control strategies, calculations
• Specific hardware to enable retrofitting
• Real-world, complete systems examples, and situations to avoid

Plus, Jeff Rubin, executive director at Sustainable Heating Outreach & Education, will share specific tools attendees can use to speak authoritatively with their customers about why low-temp hydronic heating matters to climate change, sustainable forests, local jobs, and our regional economy.
