Renew and Refine Retreat for Writers
Event Information
Description
Renew & Refine is a holistic writing retreat that provides creative guidance, spiritual direction, and professional insights for full- and part-time writers.
As writers, we each have unique challenges and goals, but there are certain things we all need: Access to inspiration and creativity; rhythms and structures to keep us motivated and on track; guidance for setting goals and navigating roadblocks; a balanced sense of who we are as intellectual, emotional and spiritual beings; and the support and encouragement of a community who understands the rewards and challenges of the writing life.
Whether you author books, write for businesses, blog in your spare time, or (most likely) juggle a combination of writing tasks, we’ll help you cultivate healthy practices and plans that will bring balance, creativity, community and renewal—not just into your writing life, but into your life, as a whole person.
The ticket price includes: lodging, sessions, and food.
Our Weekend Will Include:
- Creativity workshops that blend concepts with writing exercises
- Free time (guided or open) for writing and reflection, hikes, etc.
- Practical sessions on the craft and business of writing
- Guided prayer and meditation (in the Christian tradition)
- Delicious family-style meals and time for conversation.
Our May 24-26, 2013 R&R Retreat will take place at the Ronora Retreat Center in Watervliet, MI (Just under 2 hours east of Chicago).
The Ronora Retreat Center offers a comfortable, peaceful setting on 350 acres in Southwestern Michigan (just north of Watervliet). The Ronora grounds include woods, meadows, a lake, and miles of nature trails. Our activities and meals will be based at Trilogy Lodge, a rustic 10-bedroom, 6-bathroom home complete with a fireplace and large sundeck.
Most of the individuals in our group will also be housed at Trilogy, while two smaller cottages nearby will house others (particularly couples or those who require more privacy). We will work with all who register to meet lodging needs and requests.
