Remote Tutoring to Accelerate Learning in COVID-19

Join representatives from AmeriCorps and the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences as they share agency initiatives and models that support students who have experienced learning loss during COVID-19. The event will feature examples of specific AmeriCorps supported programs that are being implemented in the field to support student learning, as well as IES-supported education technology interventions that are being used for remote tutoring during COVID19.
This event includes:
- Welcoming remarks from the Director of AmeriCorps State and National, Sonali Nijhawan.
- A robust panel of education focused AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps Senior national service grantees moderated by the Director of AmeriCorps Seniors, Atalaya Sergi.
- Tutoring with the Lightning Squad (by Success For All and Sirius Thinking)is a web intervention with game-based elements to teach children in grades one to three to read with a peer partner and Proventutoring.org seeks to build capacity for the use of evidence-based programs for remote tutoring.
- A2i provides individualized literacy instruction for students in pre-K to third grade and data driven feedback to inform instruction.
- ASSISTments is an online tool that makes homework more effective by assisting students while helping teachers and tutors assess where to focus instructional time in mathematics.
- Saga Coach is a free, self-paced training program for preservice tutors, paraprofessionals, and academic mentors working with K-12 students, and Saga Connect supports tutor training and online tutoring in mathematics.
